Seeking volunteers for "day off" campaign for migrant domestic workers

UNIFEM, HOME and TWC2 will be embarking on a year long campaign for a weekly day off for migrant domestic workers. Many migrant domestic workers work round the clock for the duration of their employment with little time off. A weekly rest day, which many of us take for granted, is not a legal right for these workers. Many of them depend on the generosity of employers to enjoy what should be a basic right of all workers.

For this year's campaign, we are planning to embark on the following activities to raise awareness of this issue:
1) Campaign poster on the North East Line
2) Campaign website
3) Creating a petition
4) School talks
5) Public forum
6) Creating zo cards, and other publicity collaterals
We are planning to launch this on Labour Day. The purpose of this meeting is to update all of you on the issue, and get ready the campaign tools and strategy. it is also a brainstorming session to get your ideas and feedback on the campaign. Any prior relevant experience would be useful. We would like to establish a working group of volunteers who can work on various aspects of the campaign.

If you are interested in this campaign, please reply to this message or email JOLOVAN WHAM at jolovan@gmail.com.
Date of Meeting: 23rd Feb, Saturday
Time: 11:00am to 1:00pm
Venue: UNIFEM Singapore Office, 2 Nassim Road (Walking Distance from Orchard MRT)
